Born in 1934, Freddie King was nicknamed "The Texas Cannonball," and his powerful guitar playing could certainly knock you flat. In the late 1960s, a fan and fellow musical king - King Curtis - brought Freddie into the Atlantic Records for a pair of fine albums. Freddie King Is A Blues Master is the first of these, and demonstrated that the performer's blues mastery extended to singing as well as string bending. The dozen tracks delve into deep soul on a mix of strong originals ("Play It Cool") and well-chosen covers (Curtis Lewis' "Today I Sing The Blues"). Freddie King was one of the lynchpins of modern Blues guitar. Along with Otis Rush, Buddy Guy and Magic Sam, King spearheaded Chicago's modern Blues movement in the early 60's and helped set the stage for the Blues-Rock boom of the late 60's. His influence on such Blues-Rock titans as Eric Clapton helped preserve a legacy characterized by searing, aggressive guitar solos and the welding of Blues and rock into one cohesive sound.

Tracks:
1.1 It's Better to Have (And Don't Need)
1.2 You Can Run But You Can't Hide
1.3 Woke Up This Morning
1.4 It's Your Move
1.5 Boogie Bump
1.6 Meet Me in the Morning
1.7 Things I Used to Do
1.8 Ain't That I Don't Love You
1.9 Have You Ever Loved a Woman
Title: Freddie King 1934-1976
Artist: Freddie King
Label: Universal
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 4988031112229
Genre: Blues
Release Date: 2015-09-25
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: JAPAN - IMPORT

Tracks:

Title: Let's Hide Away & Dance Away
Artist: Freddie King
Label: King
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 012676077323
Genre: Blues
Release Date: 1994-03-16

Tracks:
1.1 Hide Away
1.2 Butterscotch
1.3 Sen-Sa-Shun
1.4 Side Tracked
1.5 The Stumble
1.6 Wash Out
1.7 San-Ho-Zay
1.8 Just Pickin'
1.9 Heads Up
1.10 In the Open
1.11 Out Front
1.12 Swooshy
Title: The Best Of The Shelter Years
Artist: Freddie King
Label: The Right Stuff
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 724352724529
Genre: Blues
Release Date: 2000-06-20
Number of Discs: 1

This collection offers his best known works culled from his 3 Shelter releases and is an expanded edition of the original 12-song best of (unavailable for 10 years). He is considered one of the "Three Kings of the Blues Guitar" (along with Albert King and B.B. King, none of whom were blood related). Mostly known for his soulful and powerful voice and distinctive guitar playing, King had a major influence on electric blues music and on many later blues guitarists.King moved to Chicago when he was a teenager; there he formed his first band the Every Hour Blues Boys with guitarist Jimmie Lee Robinson and drummer Frank "Sonny" Scott. As he was repeatedly being rejected by Chess Records, he got signed to Federal Records, and got his break with single "Have You Ever Loved a Woman" and instrumental "Hide Away", which reached number five on the Billboard magazine's rhythm and blues chart in 1961. It later became a blues standard. King based his guitar style on Texas blues and Chicago blues influences. The album Freddy King Sings showcased his singing talents and included the record chart hits "You've Got to Love Her with a Feeling" and "I'm Tore Down". He later became involved with producers who were more oriented to rhythm and blues and rock and was one of the first bluesmen to have a multiracial backing band at performances.Nearly constant touring took it's toll on King-he was on the road almost 300 days out of the year. In 1976 he began suffering from stomach ulcers. His health quickly deteriorated, and he died on December 28 of complications from this illness and acute pancreatitis, at the age of 42. According to those who knew him, King's untimely death was due to stress, a legendary "hard-partying lifestyle", and a poor diet of consuming Bloody Marys because as he told a journalist, "they've got food in them."King had an intuitive style, often creating guitar parts with vocal nuances. He achieved this by using the open-string sound associated with Texas blues and the raw, screaming tones of West Side, Chicago blues. King's combination of the Texas and Chicago sounds gave his music a more contemporary feel than that of many Chicago bands who were still performing 1950s-style music, and he befriended the younger generation of blues musicians. The third CD is King's studio album Let's Hide Away And Dance Away which contains all his best known tracks including "Sen-Sa-Shun", "Side Tracked", and "San-Ho-Zay", as well as "Hide Away".

Tracks:
1.1 San-Ho-Zay
1.2 Have You Ever Loved a Woman
1.3 Hideaway
1.4 Play It Cool
1.5 Sen-Say-Shun
1.6 Something You Got
1.7 Intro Jam
1.8 Big Legged Woman
1.9 Woman Across the River
1.10 Look Over Yonder Wall
1.11 Ain't No Sunshine
1.12 Red Light, Green Light
1.13 Drums
1.14 Have You Ever Loved a Woman
2.1 Let the Good Time Roll
2.2 Let the Good Time Roll (Continued)
2.3 Goin' Down
2.4 Big Legged Woman
2.5 Woman Across the River
2.6 While the Moon Is Shining Bright
2.7 Ain't Nobody's Business
2.8 Key to the Highway
2.9 Hideaway
2.10 Goin' Down
2.11 Early One Morning
2.12 Come on (Part III)
2.13 Have You Ever Loved a Woman
2.14 Kzew Outro - LSB Commercial
3.1 Hide Away
3.2 Butterscotch
3.3 Sen-Sa-Shun
3.4 Side Tracked
3.5 The Stumble
3.6 Wash Out
3.7 San-Ho-Zay
3.8 Just Pickin'
3.9 Heads Up
3.10 In the Open
3.11 Out Front
3.12 Swooshy
3.13 (Let Your Love) Wash Over Me
3.14 It's Easy Child
Title: Let's Hide Away & Over 30 tracks. Over 3 hours of prime Freddie King in concert from the '70s. I was interested in the white rock 'n' rollers until I heard Freddie King - and then I was over the moon. I knew that was where I belonged - finally. That was serious, proper guitar playing and I haven't changed my mind ever since. I still listen to him and I get the same boost now that I did then.' Eric Clapton. In a 1985 interview, Eric Clapton cited Freddy King's 1961 B side I Love the Woman as the first time I heard that electric lead-guitar style, with the bent notes' [it] started me on my path. Clapton shared his love of King with fellow British guitar heroes Peter Green, Jeff Beck and Mick Taylor, all of whom were profoundly influenced by King's sharpened-treble tone and curt melodic hooks on iconic singles such as The Stumble, I'm Tore Down and Someday, After Awhile. Nicknamed The Texas Cannonball for his imposing build and incendiary live shows, King had a unique guitar attack. Steel on steel is an unforgettable sound, says Derek Trucks, referring to King's use of metal banjo picks. But it's gotta be in the right hands. The way he used it ' man, you were going to hear that guitar. Trucks can still hear King's huge impact on Clapton. When I played with Eric, Trucks said recently, there were times when he would take solos and I would get that Freddy vibe.' King's blues style was fluid, but with biting power that was arguably more forceful than that of many other bluesmen of his day. King used thumb and finger picks and would just dig into his Gibson 355 ' hung precariously over just his right shoulder ' creating what are now classic, deeply influential and riveting solos.

Tracks:
1.1 Let the Good Times Roll
1.2 San-Ho-Zay
1.3 Feelin' Good (I Wanna Boogie)
1.4 Ain't Nobody Business
1.5 Woman Across the River
1.6 Hideaway
1.7 Goin' Down
1.8 Boogie Chillen'
1.9 Early One Morning
1.10 Something You Got
1.11 Key to the Highway
2.1 Have You Ever Loved a Woman
2.2 Kings Thing
2.3 Let the Good Times Roll (Version 2)
2.4 Look Over Yonder Wall
2.5 Messin' with the Kid
2.6 Let the Good Times Roll
2.7 Mojo Boogie
2.8 Pack It Up
2.9 Play It Cool
2.10 Big Legged Woman
2.11 Red Light Great Light
3.1 Sen-Say-Shun
3.2 Signals of Love
3.3 Rock Me Baby
3.4 Woke Up This Morning
3.5 Boogie Chillen'
3.6 Wee Baby Blues
3.7 That's Alright
3.8 Stormy, Monday / Little Bluebird
3.9 Stormy, Monday (Version 2)
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1033/0151/3561/files/3786327-2554486_f7dffe3f-f50e-487a-8d34-1dfd6ed61ac1.jpg?v=1788057950
freddie-king-going-down-at-onkel-pos
Freddie King: Going Down at Onkel Po's - COMPACT DISCS
Title: Going Down at Onkel Po's
Artist: Freddie King
Label: Rockbeat Records
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 089353331528
Genre: Blues
Release Date: 2015-07-10
Number of Discs: 2

If you're reading this and you're looking for a live Freddie King set, look no further. He later became involved with producers who were more oriented to rhythm and blues and rock and was one of the first bluesmen to have a multiracial backing band at performances. Nearly constant touring took it's toll on King-he was on the road almost 300 days out of the year. In 1976 he began suffering from stomach ulcers. His health quickly deteriorated, and he died on December 28 of complications from this illness and acute pancreatitis, at the age of 42. According to those who knew him, King's untimely death was due to stress, a legendary "hard-partying lifestyle", and a poor diet of consuming Bloody Marys because as he told a journalist, "they've got food in them." King had an intuitive style, often creating guitar parts with vocal nuances. Recorded live in Denver May 27, 1974 at Ebbets Field.
