Crafted by the distilled duo of Thighpaulsandra and John Balance, the 49-minute piece unfurls in swirling, cyclical waves, tidal as much as textural, channeling the spirit of levitational minimalism pioneered by La Monte Young. Touted as the first part in "a continually mutating series of circulating musickal compositions" upon it's initial release in 2000, the album remains a compelling case study in Coil's exceptional capacity for mutation and extremes. The theatrical introductory monologue delivered by Thighpaulsandra's mother - a career opera singer, in her 80's at the time of recording - sets the stage for a grandiose ascension. Written by Balance, the text is declamatory but dreamlike, refracted through megaphone echo: "Return the book of knowledge / Return the marble index / File under "Paradox" / The forest is a college, each tree a university." As her voice fades, the lulling synthetic infinity deepens, congealing into transient crests of volume and haze, like slow-motion surf misting in moonlight. Thighpaulsandra describes their aesthetic intention as a "bliss out," static but shape-shifting, an amniotic drift towards an eternal vanishing point. A supreme sonic embodiment of the slogan on the sleeve of Time Machines, two years prior: "Persistence is all."

Tracks:
1.1 Queens of the Circulating Library (Side A)
1.2 Queens of the Circulating Library (Side B)
Title: Moon's Milk (in Four Phases)
Artist: Coil
Label: Dais
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 683950557147
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2024-03-29
Number of Discs: 1

Recorded primarily at their home studio in Chiswick, London on the eve of a permanent relocation to the small seaside town of Weston-super-Mare, the collection has long loomed as a pivotal and pinnacle work in the group's discography, but has never been officially reissued, or repressed on vinyl. The Dais box set includes the entirety of the rare Moon's Milk Bonus Disc CD-R / 2019 Threshold Archives CD, which includes three collaborations with Thighpaulsandra. This material is as rich and intoxicating as the previous four phases, ranging from electro-acoustic singing bowl rituals ("Copal") to dissonant electronic recitations of visionary Angus MacLise poetry ("The Coppice Meat") to ominous classical melancholia ("Bankside"). Once again, Coil confirm the vastness of their confounding, infinite alchemy, explored and refined across decades of experimentation - both sonic and bodily. The music became more rhythmic, with a greater emphasis on beats: "the songs we did tend to be more... not rock in any sense of a word, but you know, more conventional in terms of structure, but now what we're doing is sort of within an 'electronic' genre." The sound of 'Black Antlers' is of an intoxicating energy, combining Thighpaulsandra's advanced synthesis, Balance's poetic lyricism and Christopherson's flirtations with jazz and Ableton-aided PowerBook maximalism. Rounding out the trio were renowned hurdy-gurdy player Cliff Stapleton on a "specifically commissioned" electric variant, to merge into the band's "strange and other-worldly music"; Royal Academy of Music trained percussionist Tom Edwards (who also appeared with Thighpaulsandra in Spiritualized's live band); and European and Near East winds specialist Mike York on pipes, bombarde, duduk and balalaika. But music box hallucination "Paranoid Inlay" captures the group's oblique comedic side, always glimmering beneath: over a warped, wobbly beat Balance intones an opaque narrative of serenity, Saint Peter, and suicidal vegetables, accompanied by spiraling harpsichord and stuttering squelches of electronics. "It seems concussion suits you," he repeats twice, like a macabre pickup line, before dictating a dear diary entry about risks and failures, finally concluding with as close to a self-portrait as Coil ever came: "On a clear day I can see forever / that the underworld is my oyster."

Tracks:
1.1 Something
1.2 Tiny Golden Books
1.3 Ether
1.4 Paranoid Inlay
2.1 An Emergency
2.2 Where Are You?
2.3 Batwings (A Limnal Hymn)
Title: Love's Secret Domain
Artist: Coil
Label: Rocket
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 5056321642011
Genre: Dance
Release Date: 2024-10-11
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: AUSTRALIA - IMPORT

Tracks:

Title: Gold Is The Metal (With The Broadest Shoulders)
Artist: Coil
Label: Mute U.S.
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 5400863191818
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2026-10-30
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: LIMITED EDITION

Tracks:

Title: Stolen & Contaminated Songs
Artist: Coil
Label: Cold Spring
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 641871745470
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2020-01-10
Number of Discs: 2
Additional Details: 2 PACK

Cold Spring Records present a long-awaited reissue of Coil's 1992 album, Stolen & Contaminated Songs, comprised of over 60 minutes of outtakes and unreleased songs, evolved during the recording sessions for their prior album, Love's Secret Domain (1991).

Tracks:
1.1 Queens of the Circulating Library
Title: Astral Disaster (definitive Edition)
Artist: Coil
Label: Infinite Fog
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 8016670173120
Genre: Ambient
Release Date: 2026-06-05
Number of Discs: 4
Additional Details: REMASTERED, BOXED SET

COIL / ASTRAL DISASTER DEF - Astral Disaster [Remastered] Like "Musick" it is an essentially tidal/lunar record with literal washes of sound enveloping the listener. Among the staggering string of late-era masterpieces they produced is lunar opus Musick Is To Play In The Dark, widely hailed as an artistic zenith upon it's release. The sessions that birthed it were in fact so fruitful that a second LP took shape during the creation of the first one.Aided by the recent addition of Welsh multi-instrumentalist engineer Thighpaulsandra, Coil mined further into the recesses of surrealist eldritch electronica Balance termed "moon music" - post-industrial spellcasting at the axis of narcotic and nocturnal energies. Musick To Play In The Dark² spans a full witching hour of bad acid sound design, synthesizer voyaging, opiated balladry, Luciferian glitch, and subliminal hymnals, alternately ominous, oracular, and absurd. Scottish gothic icon Rose McDowall guests on vocals for two tracks but otherwise the album is a hermetic affair, tapping into the group's limitless insular synergy.Opener "Something" is stark and incantational, a spoken word experiment for windswept voids. "Tiny Golden Books" unspools an aerial whirlpool of cosmic synth, both whispery and widescreen. "Ether" is an exercise in funeral procession piano and intoxicated wordplay ("It's either ether or the other"), while "Where Are You?" and "Batwings - A Liminal Hymn" lurk like liturgical murmurings heard on one's death bed, framed in granular FX and flickering candlelight. As a whole the collection skews more muted and remote than it's predecessor, as if having grown accustomed to the nether regions of these darkening seances.

Title: Moon's Milk (in Four Phases)
Artist: Coil
Label: Dais
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 683950557154
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2024-03-15

Tracks:
1.1 Queens of the Circulating Library (Side A
1.2 Queens of the Circulating Library (Side B)
Title: Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil - Coke Bottle Clear
Artist: Coil
Label: Dais
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 683950556553
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2022-08-12
Number of Discs: 2
Additional Details: CLEAR VINYL

Tracks:

Title: Musick To Play In The Dark - Horizon
Artist: Coil
Label: Dais
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 683950556492
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2020-11-27
Number of Discs: 2
Additional Details: COLORED VINYL

Tracks:

Title: Theme from the Gay Man's Guide to Safer Sex
Artist: Coil
Label: Musique Pour Danse
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 5414165108344
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2019-07-19
Number of Discs: 1

LP version. Opaque color vinyl. Musique Pour La Danse present Coil's unreleased soundtrack for the VHS only, pre-internet, sexual education documentary entitled The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex released in 1992. Members for this project were John Balance, Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson, and Danny Hyde. The OST, to quote John Balance's interview for Compulsion Online, "is [a] slightly new age-y, progressive house type thing". Another way to approach it is as a delightful collection of Balearic beats, smoking jazz not far removed from Badalamenti's work with David Lynch, somewhat of an ambient house album for your home listening and early morning sunrise dances, Coil style. Taken from the original masters provided by Danny Hyde, The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex features a new sexy edit of the main theme. Bonus tracks "Nasa-Arab" and "Omlagus Garfungiloops" are taken from the 1992 CD-only release Stolen And Contaminated Songs, both being original versions of the radically reworked (for the OST) "Nasa-Arab 2" and "Exploding Frogs" in order to balance the whole album and extend the listening pleasure.

Tracks:
1.1 Alternative Theme from Gay Man's Guide to Safer Sex (End Version)
1.2 Exploding Frogs
1.3 Nasa Arab 2
1.4 Nasa Arab
1.5 Omlagus Garfungiloops
1.6 Theme from the Gay Man's Guide to Safer Sex
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1033/0151/3561/files/3925871_30db2faf-1dac-4c1d-b03e-6649bf79c184.jpg?v=1788058481
coil-cold-cell-in-bangkok
Coil: Cold Cell In Bangkok - 12-INCH SINGLE
Title: Cold Cell In Bangkok
Artist: Coil
Label: Optimo Music
Product Type: 12-INCH SINGLE
UPC: 880319870712
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2017-09-08
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: PICTURE DISC VINYL

"I fell in love with Coil's music as a teenager in the 1980s.... "It seems concussion suits you," he repeats twice, like a macabre pickup line, before dictating a dear diary entry about risks and failures, finally concluding with as close to a self-portrait as Coil ever came: "On a clear day I can see forever / that the underworld is my oyster."RELEASE CUSTOMER FACING SYNOPSISMARKETINGINTERNAL MARKETING NOTES

Tracks:
1.1 Something
1.2 Tiny Golden Books
1.3 Ether
1.4 Paranoid Inlay
1.5 An Emergency
1.6 Where Are You?
1.7 Batwings (A Limnal Hymn)
Title: Another Brown World / Baby Food
Artist: Coil
Label: Sub Rosa
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 5411867114437
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2017-10-20
Number of Discs: 1

Two rare tracks by Coil, never before released on vinyl and commissioned by Sub Rosa. An outlier / centerpiece is the 13-minute alien tribalist sea shanty, "I Am The Green Child," guided by John Balance's sung-spoken free verse concerning vengeance, oblivion, and insanity, culminating in the memorable refrain, "We're swimming in a sea of occidental vomit." But the rest of the record seethes in unhinged instrumental chaos, divided into 18 micro-movements of a composition called "Tunnel Of Goats." Intended to scramble the functionality of a CD player's shuffle mode, the piece throbs, thrashes, and flatlines in compressed frenzies of twisted synthesis, at the threshold of some bottomless purgatory, forbidding and unknown.

Tracks:
1.1 Higher Beings Command
1.2 I Am The Green Child
1.3 Beige
1.4 Lowest Common Abominator
1.5 Free Base Chakra
2.1 Tunnel Of Goats
Title: New Backwards
Artist: Coil
Label: Important Records
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 793447543819
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2016-09-16
Number of Discs: 1

The New Backwards, created in 2007, was originally included in the Ape Of Naples box set released on Important in 2008 and was constructed by Peter Christopherson using material from the Backwards sessions (CSR 203CD/LP), recorded in the early '90s for a planned release on Trent Reznor's Nothing Records label.

Tracks:

Title: Musick To Play In The Dark 2 (Clear Blue)
Artist: Coil
Label: Dais
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 011586672093
Genre: Electronic
Release Date: 2022-04-29
Number of Discs: 2
Additional Details: COLORED VINYL, CLEAR VINYL, BLUE

After leaving London in 1999 for the sleepy seaside retiree town of Weston-super-Mare, Coil co-founders John Balance and Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson set up shop in a palatial eight-bedroom estate to pursue the outer reaches of the group's heightening cabalistic chemistry.

Title: Recoiled
Artist: Coil
Label: Cold Spring
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 641871746293
Genre: Rock
Release Date: 2024-07-19
Number of Discs: 1

Vinyl LP pressing.
