It reframes orchestral composition not as nostalgia, but as a living language built for reinterpretation.Inspired by composers like Lalo Schifrin, David Axelrod, Ennio Morricone, Galt MacDermot, Bo Hansson, and later visionaries such as Portishead's Geoff Barrow, the album draws from a lineage of emotionally charged, forward-thinking music that quietly shaped hip hop decades later through sampling. These were records defined by tension, restraint, and atmosphere-qualities Younge places at the center of this work.Recorded entirely to tape at Linear Labs, Younge unfolds like a lost soundtrack from an alternate history: modular compositions, dramatic movements, and themes that feel simultaneously ancient and futuristic. The music anticipates reuse-it invites sampling, deconstruction, and dialogue-without ever feeling unfinished.Adrian Younge has spent years testing orchestral music in front of live audiences, refining how large ensembles communicate energy, space, and narrative. The transformation is often driven by culture as forward-thinking people avoid the proverbial paths in search of revolution. Even though our pioneers prophesied that the revolution would not be televised, the message has permeated. It's spreading like wildfire and leaders are defined by those that speak first: Jazz Is Dead. Music is the universal language and we are the interpreter of sound, a message that has been lost in transcription. Under Jazz Is Dead, younger artists are elaborating upon conversations started decades ago; jazz icons are utilizing vintage equipment to create new masters with Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad; the same equipment that recorded their coveted catalogs. The vitality embedded in the new masters epitomizes our quest for new life in music: Jazz Is Dead. This compilation features legendary artists Roy Ayers, Gary Bartz, Marcos Valle, Azymuth, Doug Carn, Joao Donato, & Brian Jackson, who will each have their own individual release, working alongside Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

Tracks:
1.1 Hey Lover Feat Roy Ayers
1.2 Distant Mode Feat Gary Bartz
1.3 Nancy Wilson Feat Brian Jackson
1.4 Conexão Feat João Donato
1.5 Down Deep Feat Doug Carn
1.6 Apocalíptico Feat Azymuth
1.7 Não Saia Da Praça Feat Marcos Valle
1.8 Jazz Is Dead Feat the Midnight Hour
Title: Adrian Younge Presents Linear Labs: Sao Paulo
Artist: Adrian Younge
Label: Linear Labs
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 617308084559
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2025-01-31
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: Explicit Lyrics

Linear Labs: Sao Paulo sparks a new golden era of musical genius defined by the maestro Adrian Younge. Something About April III (SAA III), Adrian Younge pushes the musical franchise forward with fearless conviction, surpassing it's predecessors as an essential piece in today's vinyl culture. "Something About April III is the album I wanted to make when I created the first album in 2011. However, I didn't have the musical knowhow and experience to create the sound that was buried deep in my soul. Essentially, SAA III is the album that has taken me fifteen years to uncover and fully realize. From a cratediggers' perspective, it's the album I've been diggin' for in the deepest crates of my soul. A lost album I finally found. I hope this LP resonates with you as much as it has for me." Throughout the years, Younge has earned the title of America's black genius: a master at reviving the lost art of analog recording in a digital world. The Emmy-award winning composer, multi-instrumentalist and orchestrator has received comparisons to the finest works of Ennio Morricone as well as The Beatles relentless pursuit for sonic innovation. The Something About April collection has stood the test of time for contemporary vinyl enthusiasts and producers, being sampled by DJ Premier, Jay-Z, Common, 50 Cent and more. With so much experimentation, SAA III is Younge's boldest journey into the unknown, drawing from the heritage of this heavily sampled collection to shape the future of his legacy.Emboldened by the success of SAA I and II, Younge closes the trilogy with grander compositions for his uniquely inspired vinyl collecting audience. As the proceeding albums synthesize the boundaries between American and European cinematic soul, part 3 does the same, but with a bold twist: Brazilian Psychedelica!Inspired by the great Brazilian records of the '60s and '70s, Younge records an all-Brazilian choir of vocalists, hand-picked by the Grammy-award winning Brazilian composer, Céu. Songs like "Nunca Estranhos" and "O Som Do Amor" highlight the talented vocalists over fuzzed out drum breaks and complexed orchestral arrangements akin to Arthur Verocai's eponymously album in '72. "Nossas Sombras" takes listeners back to a time when groups like Os Mutantes and Antonio Adolfo & A Brazuca pioneered mind-blowing sounds for Brazilian counterculture. Others such as "A Minha Fantasia" and "Esperando Por Você" evoke the essence of Brazilian soul singers Tim Maia and Cassiano, as if they were sampled by Rza for an unreleased Wu-tang album from the '90s. This album will surely be studied for years as a treasured gem for producers and collectors alike, surpassing it's former as the holy grail in Younge's canon. With SAA III, Younge seals his legacy as America's Black genius; a pioneer in modern sound and composition, challenging the sonic audacity of his Something About April collection in the most beautiful way.

Tracks:
1.1 A Música Na Minha Fantasia
1.2 O Som do Amor
1.3 Poxa Meu Amor
1.4 Nos Somos as Estrelas
1.5 Ainda Preciso do Sol
1.6 Esperando por Voce
1.7 Nossas Sombras
1.8 Nunca Estranhos
1.9 Sorrir Na Chuva
Title: The Midnight Hour
Artist: Adrian Younge
Label: Linear Labs
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 617308084481
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2025-10-10
Number of Discs: 2

The Midnight Hour is comprised of Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge, alongside a tight rhythm section and a full orchestra. Music exists in movement and change, but before any part of it can be pinned down for analysis, it's often moved and taken on a new face.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1033/0151/3561/files/4408779-3330960_10766e89-da81-48ac-882e-884dbc2a1040.jpg?v=1788058991
hyldon-younge-adrian-hyldon-jid023-1
Adrian Younge: Hyldon Jid023 - COMPACT DISCS
Title: Hyldon Jid023
Artist: Adrian Younge
Label: Jazz Is Dead
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 617308086751
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2025-04-04
Number of Discs: 1

Hyldon, Brazil's highly revered vocalist, musician and producer, has partnered with Adrian Younge to create a new psychedelic soul album, HYLDON JID023. The duo, highly inspired by Hyldon's seminal work in the '60s and '70s, revisits' the spirit of this epoch while creating a modern-day classic. Hyldon's unique voice and lyrical depth, combined with Younge's innovative analog production, ensures this album will not be forgotten. JID023 is one of the last recordings featuring Hyldon's long-time collaborator and friend, the late drummer Ivan "Mamao" Conti of Azymuth. Hyldon, a musical pioneer and early contributor to the "Black Rio" movement is a genius in synthesizing the sounds of MPB, Tropicália and Black American R&B. His unique voice, coupled with his rich arrangements and laid-back grooves set him apart from the contemporaries of the time. In '75, his remarkable debut album, Na Rua, Na Chuva, Na Fazenda changed the sound of Brazil forever. Hyldon's earnest and experimental approach in creating that album served as the inspiration for Younge's production on the new JID023. Months before Mamão's untimely passing, Adrian Younge and Hyldon invited the legendary drummer to join them at Younge's Linear Labs studio in Los Angeles. Mamão and Hyldon shared a rich musical history - Azymuth, Mamão's group, served as the rhythm section for much of Hyldon's work, including his iconic 1975 LP, Na Rua, Na Chuva, Na Fazenda. Their goal was ambitious: to craft an album that would stand alongside Hyldon's finest achievements, one that would captivate fans who love his unique blend of psychedelic and soulful "Música Brasileira." The result is nothing short of remarkable."Producing a Hyldon album was a dream come true. I've studied his catalog for so many years and highly respect the way he mixed the sound of The Beatles, with that of Marvin Gaye and Tim Maia. I'm still enamored by the fact that he is even a better singer now than he was, in what many deem, his prime. Also, we greatly miss our dear friend and contributor Mamão, the late drummer of Azymuth. We dedicated this album to his memory, and we wish he could have had the chance to hear the finished album." - Adrian YoungeSongs such as "Olhos Castanhos" evoke the ethereal nature of The Beatles "Strawberry Fields" as the mellotron flutes and Hyldon's vulnerable performance captivates our hearts. Mamão's gritty and funky drumming on "Nhanderuvucu (The Creator of God)" showcase what made him a leading pioneer in Brazil's samba funk scene. Apart from the remarkable drumming, multi-instrumentalist Younge accomplishes the unthinkable by playing every other instrument on JID023. The experimental fusion of horns, analog synthesizers and acoustic instrumentation on songs like "Viajante de Planeta Azul" take listeners on a funky journey to the blue planet; a fictional space that Hyldon lyrically describes with passion and conviction. Hyldon JID023 is an unexpected, yet remarkable addition to the canon of Brazilian Music. Not only has he collaborated with musical legends ranging from The Delfonics to Ghostface Killah, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and The Souls of Mischief; his work has also been sampled by such rap giants as 50 Cent, Jay-Z and Common. In an equally impressive twist, DJ Premier produced an entire album with Younge's work as his only source material (including multiple samples from 'April,' of course): 2014's 'PRhyme,' with MC Royce Da 5'9'. 'Something About April' is an album that flaunts all of the trademarks that have made Younge an in-demand name as a composer and sample source-point.

Tracks:
1.1 Turn Down the Sound
1.2 It's Me
1.3 Anna May
1.4 Two Hearts Combine
1.5 Thunderstrike
1.6 Reverie
1.7 First Step on the Moon
1.8 Dusts of Gold
1.9 Midnight Blue
1.10 Lovely Lady - Adrian Younge Dennis Coffey
1.11 Sound of a Man
1.12 Sirens
1.13 Mourning Melodies in Rhapsody
1.14 Something About April
1.15 Niacin
2.1 Turn Down the Sound
2.2 It's Me
2.3 Anna May
2.4 Two Hearts Combine
2.5 Thunderstrike
2.6 Reverie
2.7 First Step on the Moon
2.8 Dusts of Gold
2.9 Midnight Blue
2.10 Lovely Lady
2.11 Sound of a Man
2.12 Sirens
2.13 Mourning Melodies in Rhapsody
2.14 Something About April
2.15 Niacin
Title: Produced by Adrian Younge
Artist: Adrian Younge
Label: Linear Labs
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 856040005983
Genre: Soul/R & B
Release Date: 2019-05-10
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: EXTENDED PLAY

Previously only available on Amazon Music, "Produced By" pairs producers with a collection of some of today's top artists across various genres to create exclusive, new recordings featuring Black Thought, Estelle, Gallant, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Terrace Martin. Jack Waterson is the acid that Adrian never took as a kid. The result, as you'd expect, is both colorful and dark; full of sonic and musical surprises. The creative relationship they have questions the social order of the United States, yet theirs is a quintessentially American Story: Kindred spirits. Punk rock and hip hop came from the same place, fueled by identical sentiments: people taking the music back, reclaiming it, and finding a new audience. Waterson, primed from the mid-70s Punk scene, began his musical career in '79 as a founding member of Green on Red. They inspired artists as diverse as My Bloody Valentine, Wilco and Mazzy Star with their records and psychedelic palette. Years later, Waterson continued his influential journey by opening the revered musical instrument store, Future Music, a Los Angeles staple. In '99, an 18 year-old Younge realized that he wanted to create music that sounded like the records he was sampling. Unbeknownst to him, he serendipitously wandered into Future Music. It's there, he realized his dream was possible. During these years, Waterson schooled Younge on psych and art rock; Younge returned the favor by schooling him on Hip Hop, the origins of sampling, and it's source music. Together this unlikely duo manifested new revolutionary worlds with Waterson appearing on every Younge album within the last decade.

Tracks:
1.1 Smile (Instrumental)
1.2 Prepare for a Long Fall (Instrumental)
1.3 Fly Wallenda (Instrumental)
1.4 The Legend of Shortie George (Instrumental)
1.5 Religion of Death (Instrumental)
1.6 Flashback (Instrumental)
1.7 They Wont Help You (Instrumental)
1.8 Stay (Instrumental)
1.9 Larceny (Instrumental)
1.10 All Hail the Emperor (Instrumental)
Title: Adrian Younge Presents: Black Dynamite
Artist: Adrian Younge
Label: Linear Labs
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 617308084412
Genre: Soundtrack
Release Date: 2025-01-24
Number of Discs: 1

Adrian Younge Presents: Black Dynamite (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the first official release from composer and producer Adrian Younge. Younge commands the Rhodes electric piano, Hammond organ, Hohner Clavinet, harpsichord, synthesizer, vibraphone, guitar, bass, flute, sax, cello, and more to craft a singular vision of the era. Recorded and mixed by Adrian Younge at Linear Labs, the preeminent analog studio of Los Angeles, CA.

Tracks:
1.1 Black Dynamite Theme
1.2 Cleaning Up the Streets
1.3 Man with the Heat (Superbad)
1.4 Shine
1.5 Jimmy's Dead
1.6 Shot Me in the Heart
1.7 Black They Back
1.8 Gloria (Zodiac Lovers)
1.9 Anaconda Malt Liquor
1.10 Jimmy's Apartment
1.11 Jimmy's Dead (Interlude)
1.12 Chicago Wind
1.13 Rafelli Chase
1.14 Jimmy's Dead (Instrumental)
1.15 Dynomite (Suckapunch Re-Edit)
1.16 Anaconda Unscrew You
1.17 Jimmy's Apartment Alt Take Feat Tommy Davidson (Alt Take)
1.18 Life of a Hustler
1.19 Tears I Cry
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1033/0151/3561/files/4386879-3290219_82e3a338-f1e3-4413-9c2a-9d94f40f68d8.jpg?v=1788060325
